We also help busy advisors or investors with investment due diligence evaluation such as investment performance & risk analytics on various U.S., Canadian and global securities, representing various asset-classes/sectors/themes over various time periods. However, our focus is on the U.S. markets only at this point in time.
Research shows that investment performance ratings based on fixed term historical performance (such as 3, 5 or 10 year performances) are not always a good predictor of future performance. Instead, it is at times necessary to select a time period consistent with existing market conditions, and rate performance accordingly for identifying potential winners.
Do you instantly need transparent investment performance ranking, investment risk analytics or price action analytics on various asset-classes/sectors/themes/ETFs/stocks for various time periods?
Simply insert the stock tickers/symbols with a space in-between those in the search box, select the time period from the dropdown-list, select the ranking type from the dropdown-list, and then press Enter. Afterwards, we will display the comparative investment performance and ranking of the selected stocks/ETFs based on investment performance over the selected time period.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1.1. How does personal financial goal setting work?
A1.1. Once advisors and their clients/individuals insert or select from dropdown-list information regarding personal financial situation and financial goals, we generate a summary financial plan required to meet personal financial goals. Advisors and their clients/individuals can periodically review previously set personal financial goals from user profile/history to evaluate progress and update accordingly. For example, if the personal financial goal is to retire as a millionaire and/or save a certain amount of money within a shorter time period such as for a down payment or college fund for kids, separate financial plans can also be set and viewed in the user profile/history. In addition, we generate portfolio analytics to enable advisors and their clients/individuals to assess the continued suitability of various investment portfolios such as 60% equity & 40% bond portfolio, 80% equity & 20% bond portfolio, etc as well as ensure alignment of return/risk level of selected investment portfolio with the desired return/risk level.
Q1.2. How does risk analytics work?
A1.2. We perform risk analytics and demonstrate various risk metrics for the user selected securities. We also use a proprietary ranking algorithm for Ranking (based on Risk & ROI). The algorithm takes into account various risk metrics for the user selected time period to determine the ranking. We use day-end &/or intra-day data for calculating the risk metrics based on historical data. However, there is no forecasting method involved. We aim to support the following time periods presented in days: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, and some more in between.
We try to cover at least one ETF/security from various asset-classes/sectors/themes. Our primary focus is on the underlying asset-classes/sectors/themes to enable investment research on those securities instead of security issuers or fund holdings. We only analyze investment performance while both ETF issuers and fund holdings fall beyond the scope of our analysis. As such, we removed the name of ETF issuers and emphasized on the underlying asset-classes/sectors/themes. Using the tickers/symbols, you can learn more from other online sources about the ETF issuers and fund holdings as well as similar/alternative ETFs.

Q2. How to interpret or use the investment performance analytics and metrics?
A2. History does not repeat itself but it often rhymes. Similarly, historical stock market performance gives a reasonable guideline as to how the market may perform if it continues on the same trajectory, though past performance does not guarantee future results.
As fixed term historical performance (such as 3, 5 or 10 year performances) is not always a good predictor of future performance, it is at times necessary to select a time period consistent with existing market conditions, and rate performance accordingly for identifying potential winners.
So, how to analyze the historical performance of market indexes or individual securities over various time periods?
If your primary investment objective is gain or return with limited/no concern for possible risks/drawdown, then the most relevant performance metrics to focus on are Total Gain/Loss (%), MTD Change (%) or month-to-date change in percentage, and Historical Average Return in Current/Ongoing Month, which gives a general idea about stock market seasonality or seasonal pattern by month.
For trend following or momentum trading, Return & Duration of Winning or Losing Streak (measured at end of trading day) compares average return/duration of winning and losing streak. You can also check the evolution/change over time by selecting various time periods.
However, if you feel that, you may need to exit the market at some point and may not be able to wait for market recovery after a sudden market decline, it is important to consider relevant risk metrics in addition to gain. For example, Worst Total Loss (%) and Average Cumulative Loss (%) show the maximum and average loss you would have to concede in previous occasions respectively if you decided to exit the market before the market recovery after a sudden market decline. However, if you decided to wait till the market fully recovered after a sudden market decline, then Worst Time Taken to Recover Loss and Average Time Taken to Recover Loss show the maximum and average time period in which you would need to continue to hold the securities/stocks/ETFs respectively before full market recovery. These metrics can give investors a guideline in determining investment horizon or probably loss for premature market exits, though past performance does not guarantee future results. For rational investors, it only makes sense to check the Return to Worst Loss Ratio of a security as it shows how much risk you would be taking for the gain/return. The higher this ratio the better.
If investors encounter sudden market decline or interested in buying the dip, then Times 1% or more Single Day Loss Recovered by Next Day, Number of Prior >5% Corrections & Average Recovery Period, Number of Prior >10% Corrections & Average Recovery Period, Number of Prior >15% Corrections & Average Recovery Period, and Number of Prior >30% Corrections & Average Recovery Period give investors a guideline in determining an entry point or probable wait time before full market recovery. Here, corrections refer to 5%, 10%, 15% or 30% market drawdown/decline from the peak.
These metrics are useful in gauging various market conditions and facilitating informed investment decisions. However, making good investment decisions based on these performance metrics is a skill that takes practice and time to master. Most importantly, when an appropriate time period is selected corresponding to the market condition, these metrics can significantly benefit investors by identifying potential winners.
